Prize was created by her owners and Sam Devlin prior to and as a precursor to the variety of “trailerable” trawlers that hit the market in 2005/6. The owners liked the Surf Scoter 26 design and while Sam’s shop was fully engaged with a 45’ trawler build at the time, they went to Legendary Yachts (www.legendaryyachts.com), a highly competent wooden boat builder in Washougal, WA. They got together to create Prize with Sam consulting on the project. And just last year (2023) she received a brand new 200 HP Yamaha outboard motor and a brand new 8HP Yamaha kicker outboard. All work was done here at Devlin Boat.
This is a boat that can take you out for offshore fishing or get you to Alaska and back at a pretty good clip if need be.
The design concept is for a vessel that can trail to inland waters, as well as allow one way touring on the water with the return via trailer. When on the trailer, as in the water, she is fully self-contained, so no need for a motel. You have your own Recreational Vehicle on and off the water.
